How can Smokers Save Money by Switching to Vaping?

Unless you are living under a rock, you would know what vaping is. There are several debates that say it’s safer than smoking. Some even claim that you save money if you make a switch from smoking to vaping. I was searching for Cox cable deals the other day when an ad started playing on my screen. It was aimed at convincing people to ditch smoking and choose a ‘healthy’ alternative- vaping.

This intrigued me and I started researching the topic. Here is all that my research taught me.

What is Vaping?

For those of you who are not familiar with the concept, vaping is the act that involves an individual inhaling and exhaling vapor. This vapor is produced by an e-cigarette or a similar device. You must be wondering why the term e-cigarettes are used to describe these special smoking devices. So, the reason is that e-cigarettes do not produce tobacco smoke.

Although the world was introduced to vaping back in 2007, it was still not a very popular concept. However, in the past couple of years, it has gained much-needed fame.

Now that you are clear about what vaping is, here are a couple of facts regarding it that you should know too.

Some Lesser Known Facts About Vaping

Less Harmful but Not Safe

Research shows that vaping is less harmful than smoking. However, it is not the safest option available. When you opt for vaping, you still decide to harm your internal organs to some extent. If you believe that this is a rather vague statement, then read the list of ingredients that the e-cigarettes/vape contain:

  • Heated nicotine (extracted from tobacco)
  • Flavorings
  • Chemicals to create a water vapor

Hence, it is evident that an e-cigarette is not that safe after all. However, the chemicals that a regular cigarette contains are more (around 7000) than what an e-cigarette/vape has.

Bad for the Heart and Lungs

Even if you substitute cigarettes with e-cigarettes, your heart and lungs are not safe. Vaping affects these organs as well. Because Nicotine is the primary ingredient in both cigarettes and e-cigarettes. And this is the major one that causes much harm as well. As long as this ingredient is present, your organs are not safe. Nicotine is also responsible for causing addiction and making you crave more and more cigarettes. The withdrawal symptoms that follow after you decide to quit are another drawback.

Nicotine is a highly toxic substance. So, even if you decide to leave regular cigarettes, you are causing harm to your organs.

Almost the Same Addiction Levels

The addiction that both regular and e-cigarettes cause is of the same level. According to the research, the nicotine that cigarettes contain can be as addictive as cocaine or heroin. The worst part yet is that people who smoke e-cigarettes get more nicotine doses as compared to the smokers who inhale chemicals from a regular cigarettes.

However, there is a little twist in the story. You can decide on the amount of nicotine that you want your body to inhale. Cartridges of varying strengths are available in the market. So, depending on your craving for Nicotine, you can decide the strength.

Not the Best Smoking Cessation Tool

E-cigarettes/vaping might not be the best smoking cessation tools that are available to you. Although many companies market it as one, all of that is a lie that you shouldn’t fall for. E-cigarettes are having an adverse effect as they are making regular smokers addicted to both forms of cigarettes. What worse could happen to an individual?

However, there is one good thing about vaping- it saves money. This is the only piece of information that can help you feel better.

Vaping- Saving Money

Ditching regular cigarettes for vaping or saving money is perhaps the only reason why you should go for it.

You tend to spend an average amount of $ 2,000 per annum on buying regular cigarettes. Whereas, an e-cigarette with a refillable tank would cost $500 a year.

The difference in the amounts is considerable. You can make use of the saved money in a better way. For example, shopping and vacations maybe. Not to forget that the saved money from smoking cigarettes also saves you money that you would otherwise spend on healthcare.

I quit smoking 2 years ago. Before that, I would often request my sister to add money to the Cox to pay my bill fund. But now, I am glad, I saved enough to take care of all my necessities and wants. I am happy to have quit smoking. And no, I did not choose vaping or e-cigs as an alternative.
